Greetings from the Algarve, Portugal!

Hello everyone! We hope you’re enjoying the Fall season and that you’re keeping warm! In this post, we want to share with you how we’ve been doing and what we’ve been up to lately. As you know we moved to Portugal in September which has been really nice. We live in the Algarve region which is really pretty and has many nice beaches. Since we have some service meetings in Portugal we are now closer to those which is nice. We are still part of the Huelva English congregation in Spain which may seem odd. But even though we’re here in Portugal we’re only about 15 minutes from the Spanish border. There are a handful of friends that live in Portugal that attend the meetings in Spain.

If you had a chance to read our last blog post then you may remember that we weren’t having an easy time with things. We seemed to have had challenge after challenge which we feel is because we are now trying to do more by pioneering. So as can be expected we faced many obstacles. Well, we’re happy to report that those difficult times seem to be a distant memory. We have kept busy with our ministry and the congregation and it seems like Jehovah has really blessed us. During the last several weeks we’ve been having some amazing field service experiences as well as enjoying our time here in our new home. This is a good lesson that even when things seem to be going all wrong just hang in there and with Jehovah’s help it will get better! We are now looking forward to our Circuit Assembly in Granada in a few weeks time. We always enjoy visiting Granada although we know that it will be cold now in November but that’s OK. I think all this good weather has made us spoiled now whenever we have to deal with any cold weather, lol. Aside from Granada at the end of the month, I’m looking forward to Elders School in December in Benidorm. This will be my first time attending and I can’t wait. There will be four brothers from our hall attending so that should be fun.

Aside from those trips, we have some other travel plans which we’ll share with you later that we’re really excited about. Something that has been really great lately is how the congregation is growing. There have been several new couples that have moved in from the UK, Canada, and the US. It’s been great to have these spiritually minded needgreaters with us.  I can share a few things that we’ve been up to personally lately. Since moving to Portugal we’ve been really happy to be eating a lot healthier. Apparently, they say that they produce here is better than in Spain because it’s not sprayed with chemicals. We definitely notice a difference in the quality. Many people don’t know this but when we first moved to Spain we were vegans. Well, that didn’t last long lol. But lately, we’ve been cutting out a lot of things from our diet such as meat, dairy and gluten and seeing if it helps us feel better. At the moment we’re doing a three-day juice cleanse with just fruits and veggies. So far it’s going pretty good and we feel energetic and healthy. We’ve been wanting to get a juicer for a while and we found one at a local shop that was just perfect. It’s been nice having healthy options since it’s not always so easy to eat healthy food in these areas.

Aside from that, we’ve been exploring the option of starting an in-person TESOL Class. If you aren’t familiar with TESOL it’s a certificate that allows you to get a job teaching English to people. This is what we have done to support ourselves for the time that we’ve been in Spain and it’s what the VAST majority of other needgreaters do here as well. We’ve offered  Online TESOL Courses which you can find by clicking here, for a while on our blog. These courses have helped many to obtain their teaching certificate from the comfort of their own homes online. But lately, we’ve been toying with the idea of teaching the classes ourselves. Yeah, that’s right me and Kanicia as your teachers! Watch out, lol! Anyways, the course would be five days long and would be located somewhere cool. We are still thinking about whether or not we want to do it because it’s a lot of work but we may set up a webpage where those interested could leave their information and then once we get something set up we can notify everyone. We’ll see. The classes would be done three to four times a year and we would likely keep them small with a limited number so that the instruction could be more personalized. Anyways, that’s what we’ve been looking at.

Well, now you’re all caught up on what’s going on with us!

If you want to learn how we support ourselves in our assignment and how you can do the same thing we wrote a book that will teach you how to get started teaching English online and work anywhere in the world. To check it out just click here.

If you want to get your TESOL Certificate so that you can start teaching English. We are partnered with American TESOL Institute to be able to offer an Online TESOL Course. This is the same course that Kanicia took and it has helped us to continue serving abroad for almost four years. To check out our TESOL Courses just click here.

We are serving where the need is great in southern Spain and are actively involved in the TESOL community. We enjoy helping people learn how to teach English and support themselves in another country.

Granada (love it there!) for the assembly! And then elder school. Awesome! Kenny will be going here in Cali on 11/24. I think I’m more excited than he is!
Thank you for keeping us in the loop, Antoine and Kanicia. I so look forward to your posts and those lovely pics. May Jehovah continue to bless your efforts, my friends. You’re in our prayers! ???
