Letting Go

Letting Go

Hello there friends it looks like we are already in July! Crazy how time flies. We’ve been quite busy with many good things lately that we would like to share with you. During June we were able to take a trip to Madrid where we visited Bethel. The last time that we visited Bethel may have been when we first arrived in Spain over three years ago. It was great to visit this time around and be invited for lunch as well. Our hosts were a lovely couple that we served with in the Bilbao English congregation who are now working in the translation department. There were many new updates to the tour such as the audio-visual department and the SKE classroom as well as the Caleb & Sophia and Goliath representations. These added a nice interactive element to the tour that we really enjoyed.

While in Madrid we were also able to drop off one of our cars into a rental-sharing program. This allows people who are visiting Madrid to rent our car for a short or long term basis all while being managed by the company looking after the program. We hope that this will allow us to be able to use our car to earn something to support us throughout the summer and beyond. It seems like a promising program and we’ve already gotten a few bookings. It’s really interesting how when you step out of your comfort zone you are able to see things in a new light when it comes to supporting yourself. We have certainly found this to be the case and we know we are not the only ones.

Things have been busy in the congregation as well! We have had some leave and some new ones come as well. Recently we had an American pioneer couple move into the congregation which has been quite nice. It’s nice to see the congregation continue to take shape with different ones contributing in their own way. Since it seems like we are having more and more visitors the congregation has been especially joyful. There really is a fine spirit in the hall and we really enjoy being a part of it.

At the moment we are in the middle of our CO visit. We had a great pioneer meeting with about thirty in attendance which was very encouraging. The visit so far has been very positive and the congregation is benefiting greatly. We look forward to the weekend meeting and what is in store.

At the end of June we moved out of our apartment in Spain. We are planning on doing some travelling and then we will settle in Portugal after the summer is over. We are looking forward to the next few months and we are eager to see what Jehovah has in store. It’s not always easy leaving the security of your apartment but we’ve found that when we try to reach out for the right reasons then the blessings always outweigh what ever difficulties we may encounter. We look forward to sharing our summer with you through this blog and on Instagram. No doubt there will be many surprises and interesting things to share.

We want to let you know that we recently created a Patreon page which allows us to offer unique things to our readers as well as gives you the opportunity to support the blog. We have different things there that are designed to help you work as an English teacher or move abroad. Basically for a monthly pledge as low as $1 you can support this blog and help keep it going if you enjoy the content. Check out our page and video that we made by clicking here.

We’re also really excited to let you know that we’ve partnered with Spoken App in order to be able to offer all Two People in Spain readers something special. Spoken App lets you learn and improve your English using your favorite messaging apps such as WhatsApp and others. This could be great for you if you would like to teach English and are a non-native speaker but you want to improve your level. We know many non-native speakers teaching English and it works out well for them. To take advantage of the special offer from Spoken App for two free English lessons just click here.

If you want to learn how we support ourselves in our assignment and how you can do the same thing we wrote a book that will teach you how to get started teaching English online and work anywhere in the world. We are planning to make some more updates to the book by adding some additional schools and the price will likely increase. The great thing about the book is that once you get it you will have access to all future updates for free.

If you would rather work for yourself instead of for a company check out the Teach English Course by Jack Askew. We’ve gone through this course ourselves and we recommend it.

Perhaps you want to get your TESOL Certificate so that you can start teaching English. We are partnered with American TESOL Institute to be able to offer an Online TESOL Course. This is the same course that Kanicia took and it has helped us to continue serving abroad for over three years.

Perhaps your looking to do something other than teach English. A great resource for remote and flexible jobs is Flex Jobs or Virtual Vocations.

If you would like to learn from our experience moving abroad then check out our seven day moving abroad guide. If you want to learn how to create your own blog to share your experiences or hobbies or anything really, Kanicia created a seven day blogging course that will teach you everything you need to know.

We hope that you enjoyed this post. If so be sure to follow our Instagram accounts at @jwabroad and @kcog09. We post regular updates from our experiences serving abroad. If you like this blog be sure to share it with others that would appreciate it and follow for blog post updates and other fun stuff. We hope you are all doing well and we send our love and greetings from Spain!

We are serving where the need is great in southern Spain and are actively involved in the TESOL community. We enjoy helping people learn how to teach English and support themselves in another country.

I love the ” out of the box” thinking being used to continue in your assignment! It inspires me to think in more interesting ways as well in relation to my ministry.

Sounds like another great adventure for you both this summer ! I like the ‘flexibility’ of you both and your reliance on Jehovah’s direction , very inspiring . Have a great Summer and assembly and we will look forward to hearing of your move to Portugal .
May Jehovah continue to be guiding you .

Thanks Bill for the nice comments. We are looking forward to the summer as well and we can tell that in more ways than one we will be relying on Jehovah which is exciting but also a test of faith. We look forward to sharing our experiences.
